Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence!

1969 - 2009

Weekly Trivia Question

IUPUI will observe its 40th year in 2009 and celebrate its accomplishments all year long.

Established on a "fast track" over a six month period in late 1968, IUPUI was created out of the vision of then Indianapolis Mayor Richard Lugar, IU President Joseph L. Sutton, Purdue President Frederick L. Hovde, IUPUI's first Chancellor, Maynard K. Hine, and other visionary leaders in our community. Over the next 40 years, IUPUI has truly come into its own, becoming what Richard Lugar called for, "a great state university in Indianapolis."

"2 Million Minutes" takes an in-depth look at how students in the United States allocate their high school years (approximately four years or two million minutes) compared with India and China. It examines the implications this may have on the U.S. position in the global economy during the 21st century. By chronicling the lives of six high school students in three countries around the world - the United States, India and China - it examines education in the United States as it compares to global standards.
